TEMPLETOWN BEACH
Situated down the winding country roads of the Cooley Peninsula you will discover Templetown Blue Flag Beach (awarded annually). This hidden gem is ideal for families who enjoy a day at the seaside or for those who like a stroll while listening to the breaking waves. The sheltered, south facing sand and shale beach has car parking facilities, is lifeguarded during the Summer months (check local notice board for details) and is a nice spot to picnic while enjoying the sea views.

Interesting fact: This was a port once operated by the Knights Templars, who protected Christian pilgrims on their travels. Templetown was the main embarkation point for pilgrims from the heart of Ulster as the nearest port allowing access to the Irish Sea.
